With three regular season games left to go, the Rev are on the home stretch of an interesting 2016 season.
Think back to this time last year. The Rev were well on the way to a winless season, player numbers were low and the odds were against us to survive as a club. Dark times!
Fast forward a whole year and the rev is a very different club. Pre season recruitment was extremely positive. Positive to the point where many of the class of 2015 have found their way into starting positions and are contributing massively to a great 2016 season!
Some would say we were dealt an unfavourable schedule. NFC 2 South is a peculiar conference, where we have played the playoffs bound Leicester Falcons three times (and lost three times) and will have met second place Staffordshire Surge for a third time this coming Sunday. Against the Surge, honours are currently even with one win each.
On Sunday, July 17 the Rev head for Staffordshire to play the Surge for the third and final time. In our last meeting at the ‘Shire Bowl’ last month, the Rev came out victorious after a 28-24 Shootout.
Chances are the next game will be just as close and to add an extra layer of tension to the mix, if the Rev win and then win the final two games against Lincolnshire Bombers & Humber Warhawks (both games are away fixtures), we could well be catapulted into the playoffs!
Lets be honest, who would have even considered playoff football this year after losing every game in 2015?
